Frilford Heath is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) a few miles to the West of Abingdon. Managed by Natural England, the Abingdon Green Gym work site area is largely on privately-owned land encompassing one of the more unusual heathland habitats in Southern England, with many rare species of flora and fauna.
The Green Gym is involved in tasks that endeavour to support this unique habitat, including coppicing and removing invasive non-native plants such as Himalayan Balsam which smothers native species if not successfully managed.
The meeting point for the Frilford Heath work site is outside a private residence, Woodhaven, along Denys Farm Lane, Frilford.
